Raspberry Pi is a mini-computer platform based on the x86 instruction set architecture developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and marketed by Raspberry Pi computers Inc. Raspberry Pi is an open source computer platform based on the Linux kernel that runs on top of the user-level operating system. The Raspberry Pi organization originally leaned towards promoting education and in creating new computer science teaching tools in low income countries. It has evolved into a more diverse market and support services for educational institutions, home and student computer labs and publishing companies. The Raspberry Pi computer was initially targeted to provide access to education for those who cannot afford expensive computers or who do not wish to spend large amounts of time training.
Design And Architecture
The Raspberry Pi computer’s architecture comes from the ARM instruction set architecture, which includes a kernel, hardware interface, peripheral device drivers, software applications, desktop machines such as desktops and laptops and various user interfaces. It is compatible with many different operating systems including Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris, Novell and others. The organization behind the Raspberry Pi has made the Raspberry Pi a goal to penetrate the educational market in a big way. With its low cost and high level of performance, it has been a big success.
There are currently three different official os models for the Raspberry Pi computer. The Raspberry Pi Model A is the barebone board which is pre-built and includes all the needed hardware and software to run a Raspberry Pi machine. It is the most popular and the most expensive model. The Raspberry Pi Model B is similar to the Model A but it does not include the keyboard or the mouse.
The latest version of the Raspberry Pi B will be called the Raspberry Pi Model C. It is manufactured by Broadcom and uses the ARMv6 architecture based on ARMv4. It is the most up-to-date release of the official operating systems. It includes an expanded kernel support and additional hardware such as WiFi adapters. The Raspberry Pi C is also available in the specialty boards. These boards are specifically manufactured for the Raspberry Pi and are compatible with the older Raspberry Pi models.
Another version of the Raspberry Pi computer called the Thin Client runs on Windows 10. It is equipped with the Visual Studio C++ runtime library which makes it compatible with the various operating systems such as Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. Although the Raspberry Pi computer is equipped with the software required for performing basic computing tasks, the Thin Client runs only a web server. The Thin Client’s main purpose is to act as a thin client that allows people to surf the internet using a web browser without being confined to the usual monitor and keyboard setup.
Additional Special Features
A special feature of the raspberry pie that has garnered it a huge following all over the world is its ARMv6 architecture based on uSD technology. The ARMv6 is capable of executing applications written for the Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems. This enables the raspberry pi computer to run applications written for these systems through the use of an uSD microSD card.
